Privacy Policy
What we collect, and what we deliberately do not
This is a reading site. It is built to work without knowing who you are, and this page explains exactly what that means in practice.
Last updated: 11 September 2026
Who this policy covers
This policy applies to the website at garageguidex.com and to email you send us at the address published on our Contact page. The publisher and data controller is Bucks County Video Production, publisher of Garage Guide X, 326 Bustleton Pike, Feasterville-Trevose, PA 19053, United States.
The short version
We do not ask you to create an account. We do not run advertising trackers, retargeting pixels or third-party analytics profiles on this site. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. The newsletter form on the home page is currently a demonstration that transmits nothing at all. What remains is standard web server logging, the typeface files your browser fetches, and any email you choose to send us.
What is collected automatically
Server logs
Like almost every website, our hosting provider records a technical log entry when a page or file is requested. A log line typically contains the IP address making the request, the date and time, the file requested, the HTTP status returned, the referring page if the browser sends one, and the browser's user-agent string. These records exist to keep the site running, to diagnose faults, to measure load and to investigate abuse or attacks. They are not used to build a profile of you and are not combined with any other source. Our lawful basis, where that concept applies, is our legitimate interest in operating a secure and functioning website.
Typeface files
The headings and body text on this site use fonts served by Google Fonts. When your browser loads a page, it requests those font files from fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com, and that request necessarily discloses your IP address and basic browser information to Google as the operator of that service. We do not receive that data and do not control its retention. If you would prefer not to make those requests, a content-blocking extension can prevent them; the site remains fully readable with your system fonts.
What is stored in your browser
This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies, and no analytics cookies. It uses no cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to beyond what is strictly necessary to serve the pages. Your browser may cache page files, images, stylesheets and fonts in the ordinary way; that cache is local to your device and can be cleared at any time from your browser settings.
Information you give us
If you write to us, we receive your email address, your name if your mail client sends one, and whatever you put in the message. We use it only to answer you and to act on what you told us — for example, to correct a page. We keep editorial correspondence for up to 24 months so we can trace why a page was changed, then delete it. We do not add correspondents to a mailing list.
The newsletter form
The sign-up block on the home page is presently a demonstration of the interface. It validates the format of the address in your browser and shows a confirmation panel. Nothing is sent to a server, nothing is stored, and no list is joined. When a genuine mailing list is operational, this policy will be updated in advance to describe the provider used, what is stored, how long it is kept, and how to unsubscribe.
Who we share information with
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising or targeted advertising. Information may be handled by:
- Our hosting provider, which operates the servers and holds the technical logs described above on our behalf.
- Our email provider, which transmits and stores the messages you send us.
- Google Fonts, which receives the font requests your browser makes, as described above.
We may also disclose information where we are legally required to do so, or where it is necessary to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim.
Retention
| Server logs | Kept for a short operational period — typically no longer than 90 days — then rotated and deleted by the hosting provider. |
|---|---|
| Editorial email | Up to 24 months, so that a correction can be traced to the message that prompted it. |
| Privacy and legal correspondence | Kept as long as necessary to evidence that the request was handled, and to meet any legal obligation. |
| Newsletter addresses | None are collected at present. |
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to receive a copy of it, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to be free from discrimination for exercising those rights. Residents of California and of other US states with comprehensive privacy laws, and individuals in the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area, have rights of this kind under their local law.
To make a request, write to info@garageguidex.com and tell us what you are asking for. We will acknowledge the request and respond within the period required by the applicable law, generally within 45 days for US state requests and within one month for UK and EEA requests, and we will tell you if we need longer. We may need to ask a question to confirm the request relates to you, but we will not ask for more information than necessary. There is no charge for a reasonable request, and you may use an authorised agent where your local law provides for one.
Because we do not operate accounts and hold very little, the practical answer to many requests is that we hold nothing beyond a short-lived server log entry and, if you have written to us, your email.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Access to the hosting account and to our mailbox is restricted to the people who operate the site. No transmission over the internet and no method of storage is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security, but we do not collect sensitive categories of information and we keep what we do hold to a minimum.
Children
This site is written for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, write to the privacy address above and we will delete it.
International transfers
Our hosting and email providers may process data in the United States and, in some cases, in other countries. Where information is transferred out of the UK or the EEA, we rely on the transfer mechanisms those providers have in place, such as standard contractual clauses.
Changes to this policy
If we change what we collect or how we use it — in particular, if a genuine mailing list or any analytics is introduced — we will update this page and change the date at the top before the change takes effect. Material changes will be summarised here rather than made silently.
